Pillai bestowed with Order of Peter the Great

The Moscow University of “Security, Defence and Law Enforcement” honoured Dr A Sivathanu Pillai with the Order of Peter the Great. He was made Professor of the University for lifetime and bestowed with the honour of “Academician of the University”.

MOSCOW: The Moscow University of “Security, Defence and Law Enforcement” honoured Dr A Sivathanu Pillai with the Order of Peter the Great. He was made Professor of the University for lifetime and bestowed with the honour of “Academician of the University”. 

Dr VG Shevchenko, President of the University, presented the Role of Honour, recognising Pillai, as “Academician” for his outstanding contribution in the field of “Defence, Military & Industrial Complex and Public Management”. 

Pillai, the CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace, has played a major role in bringing friendship between the two countries by technical collaboration of the scientific community of India and Russia.  Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has appreciated the JV as a shining example of India-Russia collaboration.  Russian President Putin has also appreciated the venture and called it to be a role model for all future cooperations.

Shevchenko highlighted the contribution of Pillai in making this joint venture a success and praised the magnificent leadership, the JV has got through Pillai.  He narrated the efforts of Pillai for integrating the strategic minds of the two nations. The Presidium of Academicians lauded Pillai’s unique role in high technology cooperation between the Research & Development institutions of the two countries in number of areas, especially in Hypersonic, Naval Systems and Naval Stealth technologies.  

Pillai paid tribute to the time tested relationship between India and Russia, which became the foundation of success of the BrahMos joint venture.  He also brought out the global concerns on security, including terrorism and space weaponisation and appealed to like-minded countries like India and Russia to work together to find a solution, so that the globe will be a peaceful place to live.  He also praised the efforts being taken by the university in evolving counter-terrorism methods to combat the terrorism in various parts of the world.
