YANGON: Women in Myanmar have to be extra careful while commuting. Apart from keeping a watch on pickpockets, they also have to keep hair thieves at bay.

Many in the country maintain waist-or knee-length hair, making it easy for thieves to snip off the hair.

Women are also approached by traders who are interested in buying their long hair. 1.6 kilograms of hair is reportedly worth between $320 and $40.
