NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit's remarks on the presence of people from Bihar and UP in the national capital rocked Lok Sabha on Thursday with an agitated UPA ally RJD along with Samajwadi Party and Opposition BJP demanding her resignation.

As soon as the House assembled for Question Hour, SP and BJP members trooped into the well raising slogans against Dikshit as RJD members, led by Devendra Prasad Yadav, demanded her resignation.

Later, RJD members also moved to the well, forcing adjournment for an hour.

When the House re-assembled at noon, there was pandemonium with BJP, RJD and SP members, all rushing to the well.

After repeated pleas, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee managed to make a brief announcement relating to functions scheduled for the day to mark the 150th anniversary of the 1857 uprising.

No sooner had he made the announcement, the members were back in the well insisting that Dikshit should tender an unconditional apology.

The Speaker mentioned that Dikshit had apologised for her remarks and the members should allow the House to function.

As the din continued, he adjourned the House till Friday.

Dikshit, who had triggered a political storm with her comments, has already expressed regrets.
