SC to hear Kausar Bi case on Thursday

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear on Thursday the issue relating to Kausar Bi, wife of fake encounter victim Sohrabuddin, who has been killed.

The court was to pronounce an appropriate order relating to a Haebus Corpus petition seeking to trace Kausar Bi.

A bench headed by Justice Tarun Chatterjee said the matter will be listed for hearing before the bench which had heard it on Friday last.

A bench comprising Justice Chatterjee and Justice P K Balasubramanyam had heard the matter earlier.

The Gujarat Government had yesterday admitted that Kausar Bi was murdered and her body burnt a few days after her husband was killed in a fake encounter in November 2005.

The fact about the killing of the woman was disclosed during the custodial interrogation of the three IPS officers arrested in connection with the fake encounter of Sheikh on November 22-23, 2005.

The probe revealed that Kauser Bi was murdered a few days after her husband was killed after being branded as Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist.
