NEW DELHI: With the BJP registering a thumping majority in the MCD polls on Saturday, senior party leader L K Advani expressed hope that a similar feat would be witnessed in the 2008 assembly elections in the capital.

"The people of Delhi have rejected the Congress. I think we will get the same results in 2008 elections also," he said after greeting the party workers at his residence here.

He congratulated the newly elected councilors and thanked the party workers as BJP won in 164 of the 272 seats in MCD.

The party has not decided about who will be the Mayor and standing committee chairman.

"Within a day or two, the picture will be clear about who will be occupying these posts," Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan said.
