NEW DELHI: Training guns at her bete noire, Delhi Congress chief Rambabu Sharma over the party's humiliating show in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)
elections, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday said the DPCC had failed to come up to expectations in the polls.

Admitting defeat in the crucial elections MCD, which are being seen as a sign of things to come in the Assembly polls to be held next year, Dikshit congratulated the BJP on the "landslide victory".

"These things do happen in a democracy. The choice of the people has to be respected. I wish the BJP all the very, very best," she said.

Dikshit said the DPCC, led by her arch-rival Sharma, did not come up to the expectations in the elections and called for introspection on the reasons behind the party's poll
debacle.

"We have to really go down into why this has happened. What was the cause of it," she said.

Dikshit said this would help the party prepare for the future.
