Two Indian students have been named as scholars in the prestigious McDonnel International academy in Washington University.
WASHINGTON: Two Indian students have been named as scholars in the prestigious McDonnel International academy in Washington University.
As scholars of the academy, which brings together top students from many countries to pursue world-class education and research, Vikram Govindan and Manoranjan Sahu have received fellowships from two leading corporate houses.
While Govindan, a student of Business Administration at the Olin School of Business, has received the Monsanto-Dr Norman Borlaug Corporate Fellowship, Sahu, a PhD student in the Sever Graduate School of Engineering, has received a fellowship from Engineering and Environmental Research Group (EERG) of Ames, Iowa.
Govindan, who holds a master's degree in chemical engineering from IIT Mumbai, expects his studies to continue for two years. He will be supported in his studies by Monsanto, a global agricultural company based in St. Louis, Missouri.
"The Monsanto/Dr. Norman Borlaug Corporate Fellowship is a very prestigious award and Govindan looks like the perfect match," said James V Wertsch the Marshall S Snow Professor in Arts & Sciences and Director of the McDonnell International Scholars Academy.
Sahu, an M Tech in Environmental Science and Engineering from IIT, Mumbai plans to continue his studies for four to five years. He will be supported by EERG, which provides management, specialized consulting and technical services in the energy and environmental field.
"The EERG Corporate Fellowship is also very prestigious and we are delighted that Sahu has received it," Wertsch said.
