NEW DELHI: The Sangh Parivar will join hands with the BJP to chalk out a strategy for the ensuing assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Sources said the RSS has taken keen interest in the ticket distribution process and appointed five pracharaks who will take command of the different regions in UP alongwith a senior leader and a familiar face of the BJP, to deal with campaign related matters.

While former party president M Venkaiah Naidu is campaign in-charge, party’s chief ministerial candidate Kalyan Singh is central in-charge of the state BJP unit. RSS man, general secretary (organisation) Ramlal Aggarwal will be calling the shots. Venkaiah said for the purposes of an effective campaign strategy, the state has been divided into six zones. Each zone will have a BJP leader who will work in close collaboration with a RSS nominee.

Party vice-president Gopinath Mude will be stationed in Gorakhpur. Giving him company will be RSS man Hridaynath Singh who will travel from Ranchi. Similar will be the case with Ravi Shankar Prasad who has been in-charge of Westren UP, Om Prakash Mathur of Agra, Ananth Kumar of Varansi, Thawarchand Gehlot of Kanpur and RSS man Sudan Singh will be placed in Lucknow to supervise poll preparedness.

The BJP will launch the UP election campaign by organising simultaneous rallies at Agra, Jhansi and Kanpur on March 25. Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be addressing the rally at Kanpur, while Leader of Opposition L K Advani and BJP president Rajnath Singh will lead the rallies at Agra and Jhansi respectively.

In the past parliamentary polls, which the NDA lost to the UPA there had been some reports suggesting that the RSS had either been indifferent or worked against the BJP.
