NEW DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday celebrated Holi, the festival of colours, with a group of special children at her residence here.

A small function was organised at 10-Janpath on Sunday morning, where she met some mentally-disabled children and greeted them.

Following that, the UPA Chairperson mainly received office-bearers and well-wishers, many of whom carried huge bouquets of flowers inside.

Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit also extended her greetings to her on the occassion.

Gandhi spent 15-minutes with about 50 special children from an NGO working for special children.

Carrying a little proportion of pink 'gulal' on her face and a tilak on the forehead, she also enjoyed a dance performance by them and distributed sweets towards the end.

"She was extremely happy and even took some of them in her lap," said Nafis Khan of the NGO 'Masoom'. "She talked to each and every child and even wished the drivers", she added.

Meanwhile, some party workers played dhols and danced outside her residence for sometime.
