Akola had a 65 per cent polling to its 71-member municipal corporation while Amravati witnessed 60- 65 turnout to the 81-member house.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation, where elections to 135 wards were held, registered a 60 per cent turnout on Thursday. Akola had a 65 per cent polling to its 71-member municipal corporation while Amravati witnessed 60- 65 turnout to the 81-member house.
Polling at both the places was peaceful, but for a minor stone-pelting in Akola. Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Lokesh Chandra said the polling was peaceful barring some minor incidents.
Brisk polling was witnessed in the east and central Nagpur areas. An NCP candidate was booked for allegedly pressurising voters inside the polling station while the police seized 35 vehicles deployed by a candidate to transport voters to polling booths. A bogus voter was arrested and booked, the police said. Elections to a ward was countermanded due to the death of a candidate.
