MUMBAI: Duruelo Convent girls, fresh from their exploits on the hockey field, tried their skills on the football field on Thursday. Despite playing in only their first tournament, they didn’t let themselves down.

Playing their third match of the MSSA under-10 inter-school football tournament, they managed a goalless draw against Jamnabai Narsee High School ‘A’ at the Azan Maidan here on Thursday.

Earlier this week, Duruelo Convent had claimed the hockey title for the sixth time in a row when their ‘A’ team defeated their own ‘B’ team 1-0. They barely had a few days of practice before entering this tournament.

Malcom Monterio, one of the parents who always travels with the team, said: “Playing multiple sports is always good. As the hockey season has come to a close we decided to take part in football. This way the girls can keep themselves fit. But it’s a fact that for most of the Duruelo girls hockey is a passion.”
