Maneesh Dhir, AOL's international operations head

Dhir has been named as Executive Vice President of Time Warner's Internet unit; he would head the company's international operations.

BANGALORE: Global media giant Time Warner's Internet unit AOL on Monday named its India chief Maneesh Dhir as its international operations head, who would be responsible for looking after the company's overseas business opportunities in Europe, Asia and Americas.

AOL announced that Dhir, who would be working from the company's Bangalore office, is being named as Executive Vice President and would oversee AOL's international portals besides other responsibilities.

In his previous assignment as AOL's Senior Vice President and Country Manager in India, Dhir led all of the company's operations, including technology development, back-office operations and call center operations.

Previously, he has served as Vice President and General Manager of Netscape in California, before working on the management team of a startup that was later bought by Netscape besides serving in various technology and business roles at Sun Microsystems.

AOL also announced that Dana Dunne would serve as head of AOL Europe, reporting to Dhir. Dunne has worked in several European countries for the past 15 years, most recently as president of Belgacom, a 10 billion dollars telecommunications company in Belgium.

AOL President and COO Ron Grant in a statement said, "AOL is in a terrific position to grow internationally and with Maneesh and Dana we have a leadership team that can expand our global presence as an advertising-supported Web company".

The company also announced that Philip Rowley has decided to retire from his role as Chairman and CEO of AOL Europe.

AOL, a majority-owned subsidiary of Time Warner Inc, is a global web services company with operations in Europe, Canada and Asia.
