MUMBAI: A court on Saturday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Ayesha Shroff, wife of actor Jackie Shroff and producer of the film Boom, for not appearing for the hearing of an obscenity case.

"Additional Metropolitan Magistrate D A Joshi today issued the NBW against Shroff at our request, as she was not present in the Bandra court today," the complainant's advocate Nagesh Mishra informed.

Mishra said that she was not present at the last two hearings too.

Parmanand Thakur, president of the NGO Bihari Ekta Manch, had filed a criminal complaint against Ayesha under the provisions of the IPC and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act for certain allegedly obscene scenes in Boom.

The 2003 film, directed by Kaizad Gustad and produced by Ayesha, starred Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif.

The next date of hearing is June 16, but Ayesha can approach the court before that and get warrant cancelled, Mishra said.

When contacted, Jackie Shroff said he was not aware of any such warrant.
