NOIDA: Security has thinned and so have the number of parents seeking clues about their missing children. But what keeps the street in front of the site of the grisly serial killings at Nithari busy is the increasing number of people who are coming to catch a glimpse of the “monstrous” house.

With the CBI taking over the investigation, the police seems to have no work except to handle the large number of people who are pouring into the area to get a glimpse of Moninder Singh Pandher’s residence. “I came to visit my relatives in Delhi. So I thought I should use the opportunity to see the place where such a heinous crime took place,” said Amandeep Singh, a resident of Punjab. When informed that both the accused were in police custody, Singh said: “I just wanted to see the place where the gruesome crimes took place.”

Rahul Khanna, a resident of nearby Sector 50, seemed to be taking his 10-year-old daughter on a tour of the area, as he pointed out the various drains in which the bones were found. He also showed his girl the top floor of the house where the accused, Surendra Koli, allegedly killed the children.

In fact, the police have been kept on their toes in shooing away cars and scores of people who are making a bee-line for Moninder’s residence. The macabre incident has also sparked concern among property holders in the area that the incident will result in a drastic fall in the land prices.  Rakesh Singh, a local RWA member, said: “We are holding meetings almost every evening to discuss how to secure our lands.”
