The discovery of several bundles containing parts of human torsos has led Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths to believe it was unlikely that Moninder Singh Pandher and Surinder Koli, had links to illegal organ trade.
NOIDA: Three days after the CBI took over the probe in the grisly Nithari killing, the agency on Sunday recovered packets containing parts of human torsos in the house of main accused Moninder Singh Pandher and a nearby area, bringing under scanner the investigation by Uttar Pradesh police.
The CBI had taken these torsos for forensic examination after which a DNA test would be carried out as well, CBI sources said.
Till now, police had not found any parts from the torsos of the 17 people killed at Nithari, giving rise to speculation that Pandher and Koli might have been involved in illegal organ trade.
As teams of CBI's Special Crime Branch unearthed more and more evidence and skeletal remains, the initial probe said the recovery of bundles containing parts of torso of the killed children and women reduced the possibility of Pandher and his servant Surendra Koli having links with illegal organ trade, the sources said.
They said UP police had not taken enough care in cleaning the drain behind the infamous D-5 house of businessman Pandher at Nithari and there were several forensic evidence left unnoticed in the house which could have provided more clues to the case.
After interrogating Kohli, the CBI has come to the prima facie conclusion that he is a psychopath who used to carry out the killings, the sources said, adding Pandher's involvement in the murders could not be completely ruled out.
The CBI sources did not rule out the possibility of arresting some UP policemen for their failure to perform their duty.
