Court summons Bharti's sister to depose in Katara murder case

NEW DELHI: Bharti Yadav's elder sister Bhavna Yadav and two others were on Friday summoned by a court to depose as witnesses in the Nitish Katara murder case in which their brother Vikas Yadav is the main accused.

Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur summoned Bhavna Yadav, UP police Sub-Inspector Anil Samania and a HDFC bank official to record their statement on February one.

Bharti, a key witness in Nitish Katara murder case, had recorded her testimony on November 29 before the court after remaining elusive for two years.

Bharti's brother and cousin Vikas and Vishal are accused of kidnapping and murdering Nitish with whom she allegedly had an intimate relationship.

While Vikas and another accused Sukhdev Pehlwan is in jail, Vishal has been granted bail by the Delhi High Court.

Katara was murdered on the night of February 16-17, 2002 from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where he had gone to attend a marriage party.
