DUBAI: A 28-year old man from Kasargode district in Kerala, was detained at the Bahrain International Airport for travelling on a friend's passport.

Mohammed Karippodi Abdul Khader, who claimed he lost his passport in Dubai while working there and managed to leave the country on emergency exit, is likely to be prosecuted in India.

He first entered Bahrain on November 4 last year on a visit visa using his friend's passport and then left for India on December 28 as he could not get a job.

On December 31 officials at the Mumbai International Airport sent Khader back to Bahrain, where he was taken into custody.

The Indian Embassy in Bahrain produced documents to prove his citizenship and issued an emergency exit paper for his return to India. He has been deported back to India.
