The Versova police have registered a case against developers Nargis Jaal Haradwala, who built two towers namely Natasha and Shehnaaz at Juhu-Versova Link Road, for selling off flats meant for government officials. The complaint was lodged on Thursday.

According to the police, the complainant, Nirmal Kumar Pandit Chaudhary, an employee in Additional Collectors’ Office, has alleged that Sehnaz built the towers between 1998 and 2006. He alleged that she sold the flats in violation of the Urban Land Ceiling Regulation (ULCR) Act.

Assistant police inspector Hemant Gosavi said, “In 1987, the developer had applied to form a society. In 1995, the society was formed. The developer was supposed to hand over 28 flats to the government. But in 1998, she gave 7 flats.

When the officers went to check the building, they found that the other 21 flats had already been sold and people had moved in. Then she gave a letter saying the existing government demand was high and she should give 5 per cent of the total flats than the agreed 10 per cent. It was rejected by the officials. In 2006, the Commissioner of Konkan region also rejected her plea after which Chaudhary filed the police complaint on behalf of the government.

“It’s said that she sold 21 flats worth about Rs 4 crore  to other buyers. These were actually reserved for for government officials in the 10 per cent quota scheme,” said senior PI Vijay Sonawane.
