WASHINGTON: British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his family were aboard a jet that slid off a runway while landing in Miami, media reports said.

British Airways flight 209 from London, carrying 343 passengers and crew, landed at about 2315 GMT on Tuesday at Miami International Airport. The Boeing 747-400 overshot the runway, airport spokesperson Marc Henderson told The Miami Herald.

There were no injuries or damage to the aircraft, Henderson said. The jet was able to reach a terminal, and passengers could leave the aircraft normally.

The flight took off about nine hours earlier from London's Heathrow International Airport.

The US Secret Service confirmed that Blair and his immediate family were aboard, en route to a holiday in southern Florida, the report said.
