Widow, kids sold for Rs 11 lakh

NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old widow and her four children have been allegedly sold off by her brothers to an aged landlord in Haryana for Rs 11 lakh.

The woman Giriji, whose husband died about a year back due to heart failure, alleged that her brothers sold off her property too and had pocketed Rs 11 lakh from the landowner by selling her children and her.

She escaped with the help of her youngest brother and approached the National Commission for Women (NCW). She said that she was worried for her children who were still with the brothers. The NCW has asked the Gurgaon police to take necessary measures and submit an action taken report within two weeks.
