CHANDIGARH: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief K Sudarshan wants Hindus in the country not to observe family planning since there has been considerable decline in the growth rate of the Hindu population.

Addressing a select gathering here on Thursday, the RSS chief drew a comparison with the Muslim population growth and observed that the census in the recent past demonstrated an alarming trend whereby Hindus have recorded 21 per cent whereas the Muslim population registered 29 per cent growth.

"If the present trend continued, the Hindus in the country would be reduced to a minority by 2060," he said asking the Hindus not to observe family planning norms. "Hum do, hamare do," should not be the motto of Hindu families, who should instead plan big families with at least three children each.

He blamed the Centre for not evolving a uniform civil code for all communities to check the disproportionate growth in population.

He said there was an urgent need to spread Hindutva in the country and the RSS was not averse to taking Mulsims in its fold provided they reposed faith in the Hindu tenets and identified themselves with the nation. Commenting on the RSS's relations with the BJP, Sudarshan said both were separate entities with different goals.

The RSS would normally not try to meddle in the affairs of the BJP, but would surely exchange opinions on certain vital matters concerning the nation.
