At the end of the day, Dr. Ramaswamy will seek solace in the fact that while his champion filly Haunting Memories has been beaten, his other filly Guest Connections has come out and won.
The race began at 4:00pm sharp and as expected Pampered Princess went out in the front. In a true run race the favourite Haunting Memories sat on the pace in second as they made their way to the six-furlong marker. Off the other fancied runners, Giacosa was tracking Haunting Memories’ while stable-mate Guest Connections graced the wrong end of the field.
As the field straightened up for the final run-in, for a moment it was déjà vu for Haunting Memories as she tackled Pampered Princess reminiscent of the Morvi. Inside the last furlong and a half she overpowered Pampered Princess and broke away from the pack only to find a moment later that she was being challenged by her stable-mate Guest Connections.
Probably spent from her efforts from going past Pampered Princess she had no answer for Guest Connections who sailed away for an easy victory. Despite the fact that his favourite had lost, trainer Ganapathy was ecstatic that he had come first and second.
