DOHA: A blunder left three Filipino boxers having to share a shirt and shorts at the Asian Games.

Flyweight Violito Payla, featherweight Anthony Marcial and Delfin Boholst were forced to use the same gear, leaving boxing coach Patricio Gaspi with a major headache.

"There were some communication problems between the secretary-general of the Philippines Boxing Federation and the leader of the Philippines contingent," said Gaspi.

"I don't know what went wrong. Perhaps our boxing official thought the contingent leader had enough playing kits for the boxers.

"But when we got here, we found there were no kits for some three or four boxers. This forced Payla, Marcial and Boholst to share one kit to fight. We had seven boxers in our team and now we have four left to compete."

Despite the mix-up, Payla was left the happier of the three as his two teammates failed to reach the semi-finals.

It means the 27-year-old will have the shirt and shorts all to himself when he fights China's Yang Bo for a place in the final later in the day.
