India's star pistol shooter Samresh Jung had a disastrous start in the Asian Games as he failed to make the final of the men's 10 metre air pistol event on Sunday.

DOHA: India's star pistol shooter Samresh Jung had a disastrous start in the Asian Games as he failed to make the final of the men's 10 metre air pistol event here on Sunday.

Jung, who captured as many as five gold medals in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, fired a dismal average of 9.6 with scores of 94, 97, 97, 95, 96, 97 and finished 10th in qualification.

Other Indians in the fray, Deepak Sharma and Ronak Pandit had an average 9.5 and 9.4 respectively in the qualification, finishing a distant 20th and 27th.
