Ties up with ITI of Egypt for ICT capacity building

NEW DELHI: NIIT, one of Asia’s largest information technology trainers, is spreading wings far and wide. After having signed an agreement with Cairo-based Information Technology Institute to build a pool of skilled professionals Egypt, the training major is actively exploring Africa and APAC nations for further business opportunities.

The company is already in talks with various governments to set up centres of excellence in many countries in Africa and APAC region on the lines of its centres in India and Cuba.

Committed to building a pool of skilled information and communication technology professionals across the globe, NIIT aims to narrow the digital divide.

“We look at partnering with organisations and institutions including the government sector, wherever there is an expressed demand for IT training. In the case of Egypt, the government has been very proactive. The ministry of communications and IT, government of Egypt, called upon us to work with them in their mission of ICT capacity building,” says G Raghavan, president of NIIT’s individual learning business.

Explaining the various revenue models it follows, Raghavan said, “Our revenue model may include payments for setting up and running the centres of excellence or it may also be a function of the number of students and the type of programmes we offer in different countries.”

The tie-up is aimed at facilitating and developing a relationship to foster ICT capacity building by way of class-room and online learning through the ‘NIIT Inside’ model, which has the curriculum and training methodology embedded in programmes offered by various universities and colleges in 30 countries, across the globe.

The university and NIIT jointly evaluate how much of course contents of the university’s IT programs can be offered by NIIT. Based on that, NIIT customises its IT training programs and configures it with the university curriculum to offer to the university students.
