NEW DELHI: US-based Internet phone service provider SunRocket on Thursday slashed calling rates to India for its US customers to 10 cents per minute, a move that would be welcomed by NRIs and students living in that country.

The consumers who will purchase SunRocket's USD 199 Annual India Edition can call any destination throughout India (including mobile phones) for a flat rate of 10 cents per minute, a company statement said here.

Full-year subscribers of the new plan would receive a 20 per cent service credit back on the total value of all calls made to India (reducing the effective rate to 8 cents a minute).

The all-inclusive India Edition delivers unlimited free calling throughout the US, Canada and Puerto Rico besides enhanced voice-mail, over a dozen free built-in calling features, enhanced 911 calling and the option to keep their existing phone number, it said.

"SunRocket customers call India more often than any other international destination and per-minute calling rates to this country remain among the highest in the world, we were determined to offer our consumers an alternative to competitors' indefensible rates and charges," SunRocket co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer Joyce Dorris said.
