PM mourns death of Kanshi Ram

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday condoled the death of BSP founder Kanshi Ram saying he was an important voice of the dalits.

Kanshi, who was responsible for making dalits occupy the centrestage of Uttar Pradesh politics, died at 0030 hours today due to complications arising out of multiple ailments he had been suffering for quite some time.

He had been suffering from multiple ailments like stroke, diabetes and hypertension and was virtually bed-ridden for more than two years.
