KANPUR: The family of Union Coal Minister Shibu Soren was fined by Railway authorities for travelling on the Rajdhani Express using tickets that were allegedly obtained fraudulently, officials said on Tuesday.

Railway officials said they received a tip-off that some passengers were travelling on fake tickets in the first AC coach of the Howrah-bound Rajdhani Express, which was stopped at Kanpur central railway station last night.

Soren's wife Ruby, son Sujeet Kumar and daughter were on the train, travelling from Delhi to Bokaro.  After inspection of tickets, officials found that those of Sujeet Kumar and Soren's daughter were obtained using the pass of a MP named S Munda.

Ruby Soren had a valid ticket booked in New Delhi using the minister's pass, for which she was eligible.

The officials charged them Rs 14,260 for the two tickets and allowed them to proceed with the journey.
