HYDERABAD: Keeping with the tradition of auctioning Ganesh laddus on the 11th day of Ganapati festival in and around the city, three laddus were auctioned at Balapur, Chevella and Maheshwaram, with the highest one being sold at Rs 5 lakh.

The main Ganesh immersion procession starts from ancient Balapur Ganesh temple where the laddu, made of dry fruits and pure ghee and weighing 21 kg, was bought at Rs 3 lakh by an agriculturist Ch Tirupati Reddy as per annual ritual.

It is believed that the Laddu brings good luck and farmers who buy it sprinkle some of it on their fields for a better crop after distributing it among villagers.

However, this year two more Ganesh laddus were auctioned at Chevella and Maheshwaram which fetched Rs 5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh respectively.
