NEW DELHI: Socialite Bina Ramani has accused the Delhi Police of trying to keep her and her family, both key witnesses to the murder of ramp model Jessica Lall, away from the case.

Reacting to the non-bailable warrant issued against her by a Delhi court in connection with a cheating case, Ramani claimed police had cooked up charges against her as the case was seven years old for which they had already paid penalty.

"The Special Investigation Team of the Delhi Police has to say on whose side they are. Are they on the side of justice," Ramani said.

She claimed that the police were trying to frame her and her family to keep them away from the investigation in the Jessica Lall murder case.

"We are key witnesses in the case, they are trying to eliminate us by raking up this dead issue.

"Yes, we did not have a licence to serve liquor when the murder took place but we have already paid the price for that," Ramani said adding she had very cordial and wonderful relations with the Diwanchand family from whom they purchased the 'Tamarind Court' premises 12 years ago.

"All the papers are transparent and in order," she said.

Ramani claimed that she was not issued any notice for today's court proceedings and her lawyers had to rush to a "small court room" at the eleventh hour.

"We are key witnesses in the case and will not change our statements. In other countries witnesses are protected and we are being harassed and framed," she said.
