BANGALORE: A Kiran trainer aircraft on Monday made a "belly-landing" at the Bangalore airport runway but the pilot and an engineer on board escaped unhurt, a senior police official said.
The mishap occurred during a routine sortie when the aircraft faced the trouble during landing as its wheels failed to open, leading to belly-landing, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) V Muniswamy said.
The pilot and an engineer of Aircraft Systems and Testing Establishment on board escaped unhurt, he added.
Fire tenders and IAF personnel rushed to the spot.
Efforts were on to tow the aircraft from the runway, Muniswamy said.
The incident disrupted flight operations.
