IAF investigations on to find out mystery object

A flying object which almost came close to the International Border in the Rajasthan sector, sent Indian Air Force fighters scrambling on Friday as officials said investigations were on to determine its identity.

NEW DELHI: A flying object which almost came close to the International Border in the Rajasthan sector, sent Indian Air Force fighters scrambling on Friday as officials said investigations were on to determine its identity.

An IAF spokesman said the object, which the IAF has not been able to figure out, did not cross the international border. He said, however, but it came into the 10 kms no-fly zone, which Pakistan and India observe on the International Border as well as Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

Quoting premlinary investigations into the incident which happened close to Suratgarh area in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, the spokesman said, "IAF radar personnel saw a blip approaching close to the no fly zone".

"The blip did not cross the International Border, but as a precautionary measure we scrambled our interceptors from Suratgarh," he added.

He said as the fighters took to air to be in readiness to intercept the object if it crossed into Indian air space, the blip turned and faded away.

The spokesman said, "we are inquiring into the matter and a detailed report is awaited".
