Suspicious person arrested at Kolkata airport

KOLKATA: A man loitering suspiciously in front of the domestic terminal of the NSC Bose International Airport was arrested on Tuesday, officials said.

Rs six lakh was found in a bag being carried by the man, who gave his name as Pradip Sarkar. The police, however, suspected that it could be a pseudonym and were interrogating him.

The airport has been put on high alert ever since a plot to blow up airliners in London was foiled as also the Independence Day. The Central Industrial Security Force is supervising the security arrangements.

Additional CISF and state police personnel have been deployed with the runways and Air Traffic Control being kept under close watch.
