ISLAMABAD: Asking India not to contemplate a "policy of hot pursuit," the new prime minister of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir Attique Khan has claimed that there was no militant camp in the territory governed by him.

People of these areas would fight side by side of Pakistan Army in case of any "misadventure" by India or if it contemplates "policy of hot pursuit," he was quoted as saying by Dawn.

Khan, who recently took over office after controversial elections in which all the opposition parties alleged mass rigging, claimed that PoK had no militant camp.

"There is no 'jihadi' camp in the Azad Kashmir. We are peaceful people and seek a lasting and peaceful political solution to the Kashmir issue," he said.

Khan said India should accept Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's proposal of demilitarisation and self-rule in Kashmir for finding a permanent solution to the issue and the two countries should continue the peace process.

He called for joint efforts to make South Asia a region where people utilised their energies, resources, expertise and knowledge for socio-economic uplift, better education and healthcare facilities.
