Baghdad car bomb kills five

BAGHDAD: A car bomb detonated Saturday as night fell in Baghdad, killing five civilians and injuring 10 more, an interior ministry official said.        

The explosion erupted by the roadside in the Al-Shurta district on the southern side of the Iraqi capital.    

Iraqi and US security forces have launched a massive operation to pacify Baghdad district by district, but violence by insurgent gangs and sectarian death squads continues.
