PUNE: The body of one of the two National Defence Academy (NDA) cadets, who were washed away in flood waters here on Monday, was recovered on Thursday.

The body was recovered in a highly decomposed state at Peacock Bay of the Khadakvasla dam on Thursday morning, NDA sources said. It was yet to be identified.

The two cadets -- A V Bisaria and Avinav Verma-- were on a map reading exercise with two others at Donaje village
when they were washed away by gushing flood waters. The other two NDA cadets swam to safety.

Bisaria and Verma hailed from Etah and Allahabad (both in Uttar Pradesh) respectively. Avinav's parents Jagat Bhaskar Verma and Malati Verma had immediately rushed here on hearing the news. They had even visited the spot (culvert) from where the two cadets went missing.
