CM, Patill conduct aerial survey of flood-hit areas

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Wednesday undertook an aerial survey of flood-affected areas of the state and reviewed the relief measures.

Deshmukh, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, flew to Aurangabad this morning and later left for Nandurbar in a helicopter, official sources said.

The duo conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected regions in Khandesh, Vidarbha and Marathwada, including Nandurbar, Amravati and Kalamnuri, the sources said.

At Shahada, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of relief operations in the affected areas during a meeting with government officials.

Norms adopted last year in the wake of floods would also be applicable this year while disbursing relief funds among the flood-affected people, he said.

The Chief Minister is expected to visit Nanded district, one of the most-affected areas in Marathwada later in the day and return to Aurangabad in the evening, the sources said.
