HC show-cause to State Chief Secretary

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Wednesday issued a show-cause notice to Maharashtra Chief Secretary D K Shankaran for non-compliance of its earlier order to fill up backlog of posts reserved for physically challenged.

The High Court had given time upto July 31 to fill the backlog of posts reserved for physically challenged persons, but the government failed to do so. Reply to the show-cause notice will have to be filed by September 7.

The court asked Shankaran to explain why criminal action should not be taken against him for the non-compliance of its order.
