Surya, Jothika to tie the knot on Sept 11

CHENNAI: Capping a nearly three-year long love affair, celebrity Tamil film actors Surya and Jothika are entering into wedlock here on September 11.

Surya's father and popular actor of yesteryear Sivakumar announced the wedding in a statement here on Saturday night, ending all speculations about their romance that was doing rounds in the "Kollywood" (Tamil film industry)

Jothika, daughter of Chander Sadanah, is also a cousin of another popular actress Nagma.

Though they were in love for long, due to opposition from Jothika's family, the marriage was getting delayed.

The first indication of the marriage proposal came last month when Jothika started declining offers for new films.  After a lot of persuasion, Jothika's family agreed for the marriage, sources close to Sivakumar said.

Coming together on-screen for the first time in "Poovellam Kettur Paar", the duo paired in about 10 films,  including "Uyirile Kalandadhu" and "Kaaka Kakka".

 Surya with his success in "Ghajini" had broken into the top five heroes category while Jothika's latest hit was Rajinikant starrer "Chandramukhi", a box-office hit.

Both have bagged several awards, including the best actor and actress award given by the Tamil Nadu Government.

Though Sivakumar, a native of Coimbatore, had announced about the marriage, the venue had been kept as a top secret. However, the wedding reception would be held in a posh marriage hall, the sources said.
