NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday expressed happiness at the rescue of six-year-old Prince who was trapped in a pit in a village in Haryana since Friday, and offered "full medical care" to him.

Singh sent his best wishes to Prince and his family, a Prime Minister’s Office spokesman said shortly after the boy was lifted out from the narrow 60-foot uncovered pit dug for a tubewell into which he had accidentally fallen while playing.

Singh, who had been kept informed about the efforts to rescue the boy, earlier said the government would "take full medical care" of him.

"The Prime Minister prays for the speedy rescue and good health of the young boy who has been trapped in Kurukshetra since Friday. The Haryana government is making all efforts to rescue the boy and we will take full medical care of the boy on his rescue," said a source in the Prime Minister's Office.

The sources also quoted Singh as saying that he was praying "that the boy's unexpected trauma ends quickly".
