Snapshots from the Middle East conflict

Following are developments in the Middle East.   

* Israel hits Lebanon from the air and across the border, killing 41 civilians   

* Rockets fired from Lebanon land in Haifa, hitting house near seafront. No immediate reports of casualties   

* U.N. envoys will suggest deployment of Lebanese troops in south Lebanon and enlarging international force there, diplomats say   

* The fighting has killed 277 people in Lebanon and 25 Israelis   

* Some Israeli troops cross into southern Lebanon in "restricted attacks" on Hizbollah outposts, the army says   

* U.S. and other nations pluck thousands of trapped foreigners out of Lebanon in massive sea evacuations   

* Israeli troops kill nine Palestinians in clashes in Gaza Strip and West Bank   

* U.S. President George W. Bush blames Hizbollah for the conflict and says Syria is "trying to get back into Lebanon"   

* Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says Hizbollah coordinated abduction of two Israeli soldiers with Iran. Olmert says there is no limit to Israel's offensive and there would be no negotiations with Hizbollah   

* Secretary of State Rice will go to UN Thursday to discuss turmoil with Secretary-General Kofi Annan, but uncertainty persists over timing of any trip by her to the Middle East
