The CPI said the Indo-Pak dialogue process shouldn't be stalled on account of the Mumbai serial blasts as that would mean playing into the hands of the terrorists.
NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Saturday said the Indo-Pak composite dialogue process should not be stalled on account of the Mumbai serial blasts as that would mean playing into the hands of the terrorists.
"We do not agree that composite dialogue and the peace process with Pakistan should be stopped. Rather it should be continued, as the terror strike attempted to derail these talks, besides disturbing communal harmony in the country. Terrorists should not be allowed to have their way," CPI leaders D Raja and Gurudas Dasgupta told reporters here.
But the Manmohan Singh government should sternly ask Pakistan to dismantle all terror camps in that country and in Pak-occupied Kashmir, they said.
The Left party also charged the Union Home Ministry with total failure in coordinating intelligence inputs regarding the Mumbai serial blasts.
"There are seven-eight agencies catering to intelligence gathering, including the IB and R&AW. There is multiplication of agencies, but all of them failed to take note of the meticulous manner in which the attack was carried out. The agencies also do not coordinate with each other."
"What is the Home Ministry doing? We wonder what role it and the state Home Department played in this. The Centre must consider this," Dasgupta, who along with CPI Rajya Sabha member Aziz Pasha visited Mumbai to study the situation, said.
The CPI leaders also came down heavily on the BJP for trying to gain political mileage out of the serial blasts and said its move to "communalise" the tragedy was "synonymous with the intentions of the terrorists".
