Bajaj Auto Q1 net up 27 pc

Leading motorcycle manufacturer, Bajaj Auto Ltd on Saturday posted a year over year increase of 27.92 per cent in net profit, after prior period adjustments, at Rs 266.01 crore for the quarter ended June 30.

MUMBAI: Leading motorcycle manufacturer, Bajaj Auto Ltd on Saturday posted a year over year increase of 27.92 per cent in net profit, after prior period adjustments, at Rs 266.01 crore for the quarter ended June 30.
    
The company's net profit stood at Rs 207.95 crore in the corresponding quarter in 2005-06.
 
The total income (net of excise) increased 33.02 per cent to Rs 2297.22 crore for the first quarter of 2006-07 from Rs 1726.93 crore in Q1 on 2005-06, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
 
The group's  consolidated income rose to Rs 255.77 crore for the quarter ended June 30, as against Rs 230.15 crore for the same quarter in 2005-06.
 
The consolidated net sales increased to Rs 2294.28 crore for the first quarter this year from Rs 1755.83 crore in the corresponding quarter in 2005-06, it added.
 
The shares of the company closed at Rs 2644.30, down 2.27 per cent at the BSE.
