MUMBAI: A Goregaon resident has claimed to have seen one of the possible perpetrators of Tuesday’s train blasts.

Lakshman Prasad (name changed) told the ATS on Thursday that he suspects the “fair, North Indian girl” he saw at Goregaon station around 5:00 pm on Tuesday had something to do with the blast that took place on the Borivli semi-fast at Mahim station at 6:26 pm.

Prasad was waiting for a train at Goregaon station at the first-class area in the middle of the platform when he noticed a young woman who looked flustered. He observed that the woman would keep going near the ladies’ second-class area and return to the area where he was standing.

Prasad decided to follow her. “Three or four burqa-clad women were also waiting at the first-class area,” he said. “A train pulled in, but she (the fair girl) didn’t board it. Instead, she went to platform four. There too she paced up and down between the first-class area in the middle and that next to the motorman’s cabin.”

Prasad, who had a camera-enabled mobile phone, did not click her picture because he “did not want to get into a situation” for clicking a woman’s picture. But he followed her to platform number four. After three trains had passed by, she boarded the fourth between 5:02 and 5:05pm. He followed her in.

Prasad alighted at Bombay Central and went to the Lamington Road police station where he heard the news of the blasts.
