NEW DELHI: In the wake of threat perception to the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Delhi Police has decided to install hi-tech close circuit television cameras (CCTVs) to monitor the movement of people visiting the palatial structure.

A tender has been floated recently for the installation of as many as 74 CCTVs in the premises and the system was expected to be in place in the next couple of months, official sources said on Thursday.

The decision was taken at one of the meetings attended by Delhi Police officers, representatives of security agencies and Rashtrapati Bhawan officials held earlier this month to review the security measures.

The hi-tech system will cover areas like corridors, rooms and lawns inside the presidential palace and will be monitored at the Police Control Room (PCR) as well as at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, they said.

The sources said the safety measures are reviewed from time to time to ensure that the security of the President's House was foolproof.
