SC clears project, Khan says thanks.

The last legal hurdle in actor Shah Rukh Khan’s way to constructing a multi-storeyed complex at Bandra Bandstand in Mumbai has been cleared, with the Supreme Court on Friday clearing the mega project. It also refused to interfere with a Bombay High Court order which had said that since the actor had got all requisite governmental sanctions, there was nothing wrong inconstruction. But petitioner Cyril Thomas Meewan had accused Khan of using money and influence to get approval for the project planned adjacent a heritage building.

Chief Justice YK Sabharwal and Justice CK Thakker didn’t agree with him. Khan had filed an application saying if Meewan challenged the HC order, the SC should hear him before passing a direction.

Shah Rukh Khan said, “Really nothing to say... most of these claims are not based on any facts and everything concerning my house is done in the  most lawful and correct manner. At times it is very sad and frustrating that one has to read about it in most dailies as if I have done something beyond the law. But on days like this one finds great relief and trust in the law of our land , which does not get swayed by opinions formed through media or individuals. Now that the highest authority in the country has given the green signal to ‘home’, I hope the matter is settled once and for all... I am very thankful to all concerned for this ruling. Hopefully my 16 years of work is more looked into than where I live.”
