KARACHI: Pakistan was seeking frigates and submarine technology from China and European countries to strengthen its naval defence, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said here on Friday.

Aziz stated this during an address to the newly commissioned shipmen at the Karachi Naval Academy.

The Pakistan Prime Minister said the country wanted its territorial waters safe for economic activities, not just for itself, but also for the world.

"Pakistan would not accept supremacy of any country at its sea frontiers. Extraordinary might, resilience and strength was required to ensure peace, which could never be established by weak nations," he was quoted as telling the shipmen.

He hinted that Pakistan would also share Agosta submarine technology with "friendly countries", adding steps were being taken to provide aerial monitoring system to Pakistan Navy.

The preparation of the fourth Agosta submarine with the cooperation of France was in the final phase, he said.
