NEW DELHI: In a sequel to the AIIMS crisis, the Delhi High Court issued notices to the Centre on a petition seeking dissolution of the governing council headed by Union Health Minister A Ramadoss.

Justice Anil Kumar asked the government to file its reply by August 24.

Petitioners’ counsel Rajiv Nayar said that nomination of Ramadoss and the Health Secretary to AIIMS’ governing body was in total violation of the appointment and nomination rules.

He said the rules prohibit the nomination of any Member of the Cabinet to the Governing Council, with a view to protect the Institute’s autonomy, besides ensuring insulation from political interference and government control.
