Dravid is 6th highest run getter

KINGSTON, (Jamaica): Indian captain Rahul Dravid has overtaken England's Graham Gooch to be placed sixth in the all-time list of leading run getters in Test cricket.

Dravid surpassed Gooch's tally of 8,900 runs from 118 Tests during his knock of 81 in India's first innings on the opening day of the fourth and final Test against West Indies here.

He currently has 8,981 runs from 104 Tests at an average of 58.70. In making his runs on Friday, Dravid also placed himself on the top of the list of run getters for 2006. He currently has 978 runs, including three centuries and six 50s, from 10 Tests at an average of 75.23 this year.

With his 81, his 45th Test 50, Dravid took his career average as captain to 50 -- 1225 runs in 29 innings with three centuries and seven 50's.

From the current series, Dravid has aggregated 428 runs at an average of 85.60 to become the first batsman from either teams to touch the 400-run mark.

This is his best ever performance against West Indies, surpassing his aggregate of 404 at 57.71 in the five-Test series in 2001-02.
