SRINAGAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested a deputy superintendent of the Jammu and Kashmir police, Muhammad Yusuf Mir, taking the tally of arrests in the high-profile sex scandal to 15.

Mir, attached with the state intelligence department, was arrested in the vicinity of his office and was taken to a CBI camp at Humhama near the Srinagar airport, official sources said.

The police officer's name had come up during the CBI's preliminary investigations and he was picked up for interrogation and subsequent identification parade, they said.

The sources said more arrests were likely to be made soon.

The investigating agency on Thursday created ripples in the administrative and social circles in the state by arresting the high profile planning and development commissioner, Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, in connection with the scandal.
